What might Ada’s dream mean?

In Cold Mountain, Ada had a dream where she was waiting for her a train and her father was put back together from bone and came back alive. While everyone around her was horrified she went up to watch. He looked like he was trying to talk to Ada but because they were separated by glass she was unable to hear him, though what he was saying seemed to be urgent. He disappeared and Ada realized that if she was to get on the train she would go back in time. While everyone else was happy to get on the train she remained off the train.

Dreams are often used by our subconscious mind as a way to process things especially things that have been heavily weighing on our minds. Dreams may be manifestations of fears and worries or just things we’ve been thinking about recently. They can be rather interesting if you look deeper into them to find meaning in them. Dreams are a rather interesting aspect of life.

I think Ada may have had this dream because she was struggling with her father’s death and the idea that she’ll never have him back. Perhaps even just thinking of that time was hard for her, seeing as while everyone else happily boarded the train to be taken back in time, Ada did not. Maybe she stayed out of the train because she knew all the good times she had with her father were over.
